A Biotechnology Research Center Aims To The Top Of The World In Tampere

Bio-MediTech institute, established in the autumn of 2011 is aiming to become a unique research facility in the global scale. The Provincial Board of Pirkanmaa allocated EUR 1, 2 million to the development of the research infrastructure within the Institute.

The funds are used to purchase new equipment that will enhance the laboratories’ ability to execute technology R&D aiming for new innovations which will create companies with international business opportunities to the Pirkanmaa region and other parts of Finland.

The goal of the Institute is to stabilize the number of their personnel to 200 – 300 people and the number of their research teams approximately 40. The development of the Bio-MediTech Institute is the number one project of the Pirkanmaa regional program 2011-2014. (Source: www.tekniikkatalous.fi, 07.02.2012 )
