Valmet Automotive starts to manufacture Mercedes-Bentz A-series cars in Uusikaupunki, Finland. Valmet Automotive intends to produce 100,000 newcars during 2013-2016. Daimler introduced the new A-series recently and it will be launched in autumn 2012. The popularity of the new A-series surprised Daimler and more production capacity is needed.
According to Ilpo Korhonen the CEO of Valmet Automotive, the contract is extremely important to the company. Thanks to the contract, Valmet is now able to employ all the temporarily laid off employees and potentially hire more employees. (Taloussanomat, 24.7.2012)
