Biogas Production Is Growing In Finland

Finnish Biogas Association has informed an increase in biogas production plants and biogas energy production. There were 10 new plants opened during 2013, increasing the total into 95 plants. This number consists of 42 landfill plants and 53 reactor plants. There were 16 bio reactor plants located in waste water treatment plants, industry waste waters were processed in three bio plants and solid community waste was treated in 10 biogas plants. In addition, 10 regions have farms with biogas production.

Biogas energy production increased to 0.7 terawatt-hours in 2012, which was 10 % more than in 2011. The increase is completely from new reactor facilities as landfill biogas production decreased by 0.7 %. (Source: www.maaseuduntulevaisuus.fi, 21.10.2013)
