Cross-laminated Timber Is Being Imported To Finland

01.10.2013

Cross-laminated timber (CLT) is a popular material for building wooden block of flats. There will be over 100 block of flats finished during 2013 and it is estimated that 500 wooden apartment buildings are completed in Finland during 2014. At the moment CLT-boards used in construction are imported to Finland from Austria. Finnish forestry and paper companies are ready to start producing CLT, if the Finnish wood building market will continue to grow. The key players state that demand for CLT is not yet high enough for investments in local production. (Source: www.tekniikkatalous.fi, 27.9.2013)
