Nokia Sells Its Mobile Phone Activities To Microsoft

Finnish technology company Nokia has announced the sale of its mobile phone department to Microsoft for € 5.44 billion. The trade will happen at some point of the first quarter of 2014. Patents will stay in Nokia, but several licence contracts shift to Microsoft. Nokia will become most of all a network company after the deal goes through. Nokia’s other businesses include maps and GPS services HERE, as well as technology developing and licensing Advanced Technologies. (Source: www.kaleva.fi, 3.9.2013)
