Russian Company Is Building A Huge Server Room To Finland

01.09.2013

Web service company Yandex has begun earthmoving in its project for brand new server room in Mäntsälä. When finished, in summer 2014, the server room will drain 15 megawatts of power making it the second largest server room in Finland. Yandex owns an area of 8 hectares where it plans even bigger facilities. Yandex’s final objective is a gigantic server room of over 50 megawatt power consumption. This will drop Google’s recent Hamina facility expansion to the second largest in Finland.

Reasons for server room investments to Finland include good relation of cost levels, stable soil, calm society and excellent location to reach surrounding countries. (Source: www.tekniikkatalous.fi, 15.8.2013)
