Neste Oil and AGA have made a long term hydrogen supply agreement; AGA will invest and build a new hydrogen production unit for Neste Oil’s Porvoo refinery. AGA is responsible for the construction project, and Neste Oil will build the necessary links between the plant and refinery. In total this investment is worth €100 million. The construction will begin immediately and the unit is scheduled to start operating in the 2016 summer.
Neste Oil has two existing hydrogen production units, the older one will be replaced with a more efficient unit which AGA will be operating. Neste Oil’s hydrogen production capacity will grow and the local carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced. In the future Neste Oil will receive 20% of its hydrogen from AGA, the rest will be produced in the company’s own facilities. (Source: www.tekniikkatalous.fi, 28.4.2014)
