VTT, the Technical Research Centre of Finland, has developed a method to produce cheap wood based biofuel. The new technology can transfer over 50 % of wood biomass' energy into biofuel. This high quality biofuel would have a price tag of under 1 €. VTT states that the technology is ready for a 300 MW commercial size biofuel plant. If the process heat can be utilized in energy production, the energy efficiency of the production can rise up to 80 %. (Source: www.tekniikkatalous.fi, 25.6.2013)
