Finnish Company Optimizes Ships' Fuel And Energy Consumption

18.08.2014

A Finnish company Eniram has developed a new technology which optimizes ships’ fuel and energy consumption. The new technology calculates how fast the ship should travel, ship’s optimal tilt, which engines to use at a time and with what capacity. It also calculates how to get to the destination on time with the least consumption.

This technology can save the maritime transport up to 10 % in fuel and there will be less carbon dioxide emissions. It is already being used in approximately 200 cruise ships and the company is looking to expand to cargo vessels. (Source: www.tekniikkatalous.fi, 30.7.2014)
